Android’s Find My Device is Getting a Major Upgrade
Google announced this week that Android’s Find My Device feature is getting a long awaited update, helping locate your devices much easier. Rolling out in the US and Canada before the rest of the world, the new update aims to bring it on par with Apple’s Find My service by introducing some long awaited features. You can now:
Locate devices even if they're offline. Newer Pixel phones can be found even if they’re switched off or have a dead battery!
Track keys, wallets, or luggage with new Bluetooth trackers built specifically for this new Find My Device update. The update should also alert you when unregistered trackers have been detected on you to prevent stalking
Find lost items nearby with Radar-like tracking (like Air Tags)
There’s a lot more technical stuff about how it’s been accomplished and how Google made sure everything was secure when implementing it.

TikTok soon launching its Instagram rival - Amid talks of a potential ban in the US, TikTok is gearing to launch its own Instagram-like, photography-based social media called TikTok Notes. A bit ironic given that every other social media adopted TikTok’s short form content, but we’re eventually going to have a handful of social media all doing the same thing 😵💫

Nintendo retires the 3DS and Wii U’s online services - By the time you read this, Nintendo would’ve shut down its online services for both consoles. This means games like Mario Kart 7 & 8 can’t be played in online multiplayer mode anymore, being stuck in single player mode or local co-op moving forward. That takes away some of the sting but it’s still an end of an era 😞

Spotify is about to get an AI Playlist feature - Debuting in the UK and Australia, Spotify Premium users get to generate playlists from prompts based on moods, locations, seasons, or likely anything really. Not sure when it’ll roll out to the rest of the world given their staggered releases of the DJ and daylist feature before this, so I guess we’ll manually make those playlists till then 🎷

Monkey Man was dope
The first movie that came to mind when watching this was the John Wick franchise and this movie itself knows this, throwing in a cheeky reference to it near the beginning. The action was tight, brutal, but didn’t overstay its welcome, which I feel prevented it from turning into another mindless action movie. The cinematography felt like it was ripped out of a graphic novel at times, especially in the latter half of the movie. Honestly, if you were on the fence on seeing this, please do. You’ll probably enjoy it like I did!
